Mid Wales Business Community Attends Financial Management Event
On Thursday 12th April 2018, Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus welcomed companies to its latest business support event, themed around financial management best practices.
The ‘Financial Management for Growth’ workshop comprised of four presentations, opening with how best to set up new company finances and the importance of accurate and realistic sales forecasting for company growth. Next was a talk on how to win investment through sound financial management before the workshop was brought to a close with a case study from Phil Horton, Managing Director at Dulas Ltd. emphasising how managing operational costs has allowed Dulas Ltd. to thrive despite an ever-changing policy environment.
Simon Longworth, Finance Director of Farmers’ Union of Wales and FUW Insurance Services, commented: “It is great to see local companies’ interest in the financial side of successfully running a business. It may not be the most exciting of topics, but it is certainly an important one, and having the right procedures in place early on can yield huge benefits in the future.”

The feedback we received on the speakers was very positive and the networking among companies at the event was great to see. A wide range of companies and organisations continue to attend our events, which is testament to the diverse and varied nature of entrepreneurship in Mid Wales.”
The next events at Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, ‘Marketing your innovative products and promoting your innovative approaches’ was announced with a diary date of 20th June 2018, which coincides with the Wales Festival of Innovation running from 16th – 30th June.
Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus will offer state-of-the-art facilities to support innovation, enabling commercial enterprises to grow, prosper and drive economic growth in the food and drink, bioprocessing and biotechnology sectors throughout Wales and beyond. Facilities will include an analytical science centre, a pilot-scale bioprocessing and biorefining facility, and a food-grade future food centre. Already available on the Campus are several office spaces of varying sizes and rentable at various tenancy packages to suit companies’ needs as they flourish and grow.
The ambitious £40.5M Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus development is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, through the Welsh Government; by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and by Aberystwyth University.
