Most of last month’s work on site has revolved around completing the cladding and roofing on both the Seed Biobank and the Biorefining Centre, as seen below. For the Seed Biobank especially, there is now a lot to see within the building, so please do feel free to get in touch with us if you’d like to arrange a tour of the building(s).

As well as finishing off the cladding and roofing, March has also seen several internal walls erected within the Biorefining Centre. The principal rooms within the Biorefining Centre will include a Primary Processing Unit, a Downstream Processing Unit, and a Pilot Fermentation Unit on the ground level, and a Clean Room and Low Carbon Laboratory on the first floor.

As completion of the Seed Biobank and Biorefining Centre draws nearer, our main contractors have been able to begin work on the second phase of the build. The second construction phase will comprise of building the Future Food Centre, the Advanced Analysis Centre, and the Innovation Hub. The photos below show the early foundation work of this construction phase.

In the meantime, we have been working closely with our IBERS colleagues to refine and to tweak our facilities and scientific capabilities marketing materials. Our previous AberInnovation brochure was published in February 2018 and we now have a much clearer idea of the facilities that will be available at the Campus. A new brochure is in its design phase and will incorporate the updated capabilities information as well as our Campus floorplans. The new brochure will of course also be available on our website in due course.

Speaking of which, our website has recently seen some updates to the Tenants and Members area on the aberinnovation.com website. This section now gives an at-a-glance view of all of our current tenants members and provides a space for their latest news and media. We’d be more than happy to hear any feedback on this, or on the website in general.
